Jayadev Galla is the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (ARBL) – India’s leading Industrial and Automotive Battery major. He is also a Member of Parliament, Guntur Lok Sabha constituency, Andhra Pradesh, India.
He began his professional career in 1990 at GNB Battery Technologies, Inc., USA (now part of Exide Technologies, Inc., USA). In 1992, Mr Galla assumed responsibility for setting up the sales and service network for the industrial battery division of Amara Raja Batteries Limited. His key achievements include establishing the industrial network and spearheading Amara Raja’s automotive venture. He was responsible for concluding the partnership with JCI for the automotive battery business. His ideas on development of the sales and service operations at ARBL have been influenced by his experiences of markets and consumer expectations in the United States, where he was based until 1992.
Assuming the position of Vice Chairman and Managing Director of ARBL in August 2013, he has been instrumental in driving the Company’s robust growth, making Amara Raja Batteries one of the fastest-growing companies in India.
He served as an Elected Member, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – National Council in 2010-11, 2012-13 and 2013-14. He was also an Executive Member of the Andhra Pradesh State Council from 1998 to 1999 and 1999 to 2000. He took over as the Managing Director of Amara Raja Batteries Ltd in 2003.
Mr Galla holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics with a Business Cognate from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, USA.
